HotSpring SharkAttack: Great Kyushu Showdown Onsen Shark2: Kyushu Dai-Kessen

  Morito Inoue  |  Japan

As legend has it, the Kyushu region was once the site of an epic battle between hot spring-dwelling sharks and the muscle-bound hero, Macho. Today, that claim to fame has been cheapened by an outbreak of onsen sharks elsewhere, and local tourism has come to a near-halt. Enter Tenma: a girl whose dreams of studying music in Tokyo are derailed when she finds herself at the center of a struggle between her town and a swarm of flying shark clones led by a giant Mecha. Joined by sidekicks Macho and a newly sentient shark statue, Tenma somehow finds a way to use her off-key singing to end the raging aquatic infestation plaguing her people.

Boasting a ridiculous plot and special effects to match, this over-the-top sequel to 2024’s Hotspring Shark Attack has a surprisingly tender heart lurking beneath its spectacular barrage of B-movie thrills.
