Gala Presentations Added To Festival Sneak Peek

Mimi Plauché, Artistic Director of Cinema/Chicago and the Chicago International Film Festival, today announced that two of the year’s most highly anticipated films, The Hate U Give (directed by George Tillman, Jr.) and Widows (directed by Steve McQueen), will receive gala presentation screenings during the 54th Chicago International Film Festival, running Oct. 10-21, 2018 at AMC River East, 322 E. Illinois St.

The Hate U Give will be shown Thursday, Oct. 11; Widows will be shown Saturday, Oct. 13.[…]

First Look at the 54th International Film Festival Lineup

Mimi Plauché, Artistic Director of the Chicago International Film Festival, today announced the first 25 films that will be shown at the 54th Chicago International Film Festival, running Oct. 10 – 21, 2018 at AMC River East, 322 E. Illinois St. The longest-running competitive film festival in North America, the Festival will feature more than 150 films from across the globe and bring legendary actors, master filmmakers, and exciting, emerging talents from around the world to Chicago.

The initial roster of films demonstrates the Festival’s commitment to selecting the best feature films, documentaries, and short films of the year, including notable Oscar contenders and top award winners from the Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals.[…]

Winning Poster Design for the 54th Chicago Int’l Film Festival

54th Chicago International Film Festival posterCinema/Chicago and the 54th Chicago International Film Festival has announced the winner of 2018’s poster design competition: Chicago’s own Michael Zhang. Zhang’s design will be the signature look of the Festival, held October 10-21, 2018.

Zhang won a truly global contest, which in the past three years has featured winners from Scotland, Taiwan and the Netherlands. His design was chosen from more than 200 submissions spanning 30 countries. The poster depicts the façade of a vintage movie theater, presenting the exciting thrill of a neon-lit marquee and a classic art deco design.[…]
