CineYouth Announces Award-Winning Filmmakers

The 17th CineYouth Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago, announced award winners for its 2022 edition in nine categories, as well as the recipient of this year’s Prodigy Scholarship. This year’s award winners include filmmakers from across the country and around the world, with Kyrgyzstan, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Puerto Rico, New York, Louisiana, California, and Illinois represented. This year’s films were screened in person at FACETS April 22 – 24, and the entire slate of 2022 CineYouth Festival films can be streamed virtually online for free from April 25 – May 1, 2022.[…]

Cinema/Chicago today announced details surrounding the 17th CineYouth Festival, running April 22 – 24 in person at FACETS (1517 W. Fullerton Ave.) and available virtually worldwide April 25 – May 1, 2022. Featuring 71 international short films written and directed by filmmakers 22 years old and younger, this year’s CineYouth slate includes films from 17 countries, with more than half of the titles directed or co-directed by female-identifying filmmakers, and ten by directors identifying as nonbinary.[…]

The 57th Chicago International Film Festival announced today the program for Industry Days, to be held October 14 – 17, 2021, with an impressive list of guest speakers to inspire and illuminate the film and entertainment community.

Highlights include this year’s Keynote talk with Brenda Gilbert, President and Co-Founder of BRON Studios, which has received six Academy Award wins for films such as Fences, Joker, Bombshell, Roman J. Headshot: Mimi PlauchéThe French Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, announced that Chicago International Film Festival Artistic Director Mimi Plauché has been awarded the title and rank of Chevalier de l’ordre des arts et des lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Lettres). Given since 1957 by the French Ministry of Culture, this honorary distinction is one of the main distinctions among the four Ministerial orders of the French Republic.
