Will You Still Be My Friend

  Po-Shun Lu  |  Taiwan, Singapore

Jun and Jasper, a pair of 13-year-old boys living in southern Taiwan, are inseparable. When Jasper’s family moved into town from Singapore, it was Jun who reached out to help him feel like less of an outsider. The boys’ special bond is threatened, however, when a conflict erupts between Jasper’s family, who are purchasing land to construct solar farms, and the wary locals. As the dispute intensifies and the boys are forced to take sides, they begin to question the true nature of their friendship.

A tender, heartfelt debut, Will You Still Be My Friend explores the fragile ties of childhood friendship. Set against the stunning scenery of rural, coastal Taiwan, the film is a moving portrait of adolescence.
