The Beloved El ser querido

When legendary filmmaker Esteban (Javier Bardem) offers his estranged actress daughter Emilia (Victoria Luengo) a part in his upcoming historical epic, she hesitantly agrees despite her misgivings. The two haven’t seen one another in more than a decade, and she knows that any potential collaboration is likely to be quite fraught. Still, the prestigious role is too enticing to pass up, and Esteban’s manipulative charms prove too convincing to resist. Yet, as soon as father and daughter arrive on set for the shoot, tensions begin to percolate.

The Beloved is a bracing, blistering examination of familial dysfunction festering under the pressures of an arduous production.
