In A Woman’s Place is Everywhere, identical twin sisters battle an eviction suit threatening to displace them from the only home they’ve ever known. In The Revolution Against Death, Joshua Oppenheimer’s (The Act of Killing) critical eye is fixed on the hosts and attendees of a radical life extension summit. Buckskin is a poetic portrait of the filmmaker’s grandfather, the first Black forester in the United States. In Forgotten Spaceman, archival footage is woven together to tell the dual story of Afghanistan’s first astronaut and the filmmaker’s father, both of whom left Afghanistan as refugees. Addressed to a woman who was killed in her car while filming the Iranian regime’s crackdown on protests, Memories of a Window finds two Iranian filmmakers asking themselves how much change they can effect by continuing to film from behind their window.
