Possible Love

Master filmmaker Lee Chang-dong (Burning, Poetry) returns to the Festival with a bold, searing exploration of class divisions, labor, exploitation, and artistic ethics. After a local factory shuts down and a subsequent union strike is violently quashed, laid-off Mi-ok and his wife Ho-seok are trying to stay afloat and provide for their 10-year-old son. When affluent documentarian Ye-ji encounters the couple, she decides to make them the primary focus of a new film chronicling the tumultuous labor dispute.

But as Ye-ji and her businessman husband attempt to win the trust of the wary working-class parents, their lives begin to become dangerously intertwined. Soon, buried resentments, sexual tensions, and past traumas threaten to boil over.
