Everytime

  Sandra Wollner  |  Austria, Germany

Nine-year-old Melli, her mother, and 17-year-old Lux find themselves tenuously united in grief in the wake of a sudden and incomprehensible tragedy. One year later, the unlikely trio sets out for an island vacation they had postponed following their loss. Over aimless days wandering the sunny shores of a beach resort the family once visited during happier times, a remnant of the past appears. Memory weaves into the present, reality begins to shift, and the hope for forgiveness and healing shines brightly over the sea.

A distant past is brought back to life in Sandra Wollner’s dizzying meditation on grief. Through digital traces and singularly memorable images bathed in the glow of perpetual sunset, Everytime becomes a haunting testament to the enduring spirit of those who leave us too soon.
