It Will Happen Tonight Succederà Questa Notte

Nanni Moretti  |  Italy, France, Spain

As with every great love story, this one starts with an unforgettable meet-cute. En route to her own wedding, bridal gown-clad Greta (Jasmine Trinca) darts through Matteo’s (Louis Garrel) tennis match—stopping just long enough to beat him at his own game. Without another thought, Greta runs off to say her vows. Matteo, who doesn’t know what hit him, develops a decades-long obsession ignited by the illusory encounter. As serendipity would have it, years later, their paths cross, and then cross yet again. But the timing never seems to be right. Is it destiny…or something else?

Exuding charm, Trinca and Garrell share an undeniable on-screen chemistry, as they fall in and out of love and back again. With a sharp eye and light touch, Maestro Nanni Moretti (The Son’s Room, Habemus Papum) punctuates blithe, heartwarming passages with emotionally charged interludes. Melodrama at its finest, the romance of Greta and Matteo is built on hope and the belief that, when it comes to love, if not tonight, sooner or later, it will happen.
