Bunker

  Florian Zeller  |  France, Spain

Real-life husband and wife Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz star in this tense psychological thriller about a famous architect who is recruited to build a survivalist bunker for a tech billionaire (Paul Dano). Having moved to London from Madrid several years prior, Miguel (Bardem) has just won a prestigious UK architecture prize. Together with his longtime wife Sofia (Cruz) and their two daughters, they live in a luxurious house in a quickly gentrifying London neighborhood. As Miguel and Sofia battle over the moral dilemma of his potential new lucrative contract, the pressures they face are compounded by a brusque neighbor who wants to build a window that looks onto their garden.

With Bardem and Cruz at their impeccable and alluring best, and co-starring Stephen Graham and Patrick Schwarzenegger, Oscar-winning writer-director Florian Zeller (The Father) creates a suspenseful drama with an arresting soundtrack exploring the social anxieties, relational conflicts, and ethical challenges of living in an increasingly uncertain world.
