About Kelly Reichardt
Kelly Reichardt is among the most accomplished contemporary filmmakers, interrogating and redefining the American experience. Masterfully assured, profound, understated, and humanist, her films foreground the stories of people on the fringes of society and cleverly adopt and transcend the genres of American cinema. Often working around her homebase of Portland, Oregon, she tells intimate stories that focus closely on characters at a crossroads, as both reflections of individual strife and societal shifts. She regularly collaborates with a recurring cast of actors—from Michele Williams to John Magaro—who root her films with their quiet, powerful presence.
She has won awards at Cannes, Locarno, London, and Rotterdam, among other film festivals. Her films include: River of Grass (1994), Old Joy (2006), Wendy and Lucy (2008), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), Night Moves (2013), Certain Women (2016), First Cow (2019), Showing Up (2022), and The Mastermind (2025).
