Chicago International Film Festival to Receive $30,000 Grant from the NEA

The Chicago International Film Festival has been approved for a $30,000 Grants for Arts Projects award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support the Chicago Industry Exchange program. This project will support the Industry Days conference and year-round artistic and professional development programming for independent film and media artists.This project is among 1,130 projects across the country, totaling more than $31 million, that were selected during this second round of Grants for Arts Projects fiscal year 2023 funding.[…]

CineYouth Festival Full Program Announcement

Presented by Cinema/Chicago and the Chicago International Film Festival, the 2023 CineYouth Festival today announced the full program to be screened April 21-23 in person at FACETS, 1517 W. Fullerton, and available April 24-30 virtually around the world. In total, 65 short films have been programmed into 10 screening blocks featuring everything from uproarious comedies and depictions of activism in action, to late night thrills and nuanced journeys of reflection.

CineYouth opens on Friday, April 21 with the Chicagoland presentation offering a vast array of creative expression from our city’s talented young filmmakers, including the documentary Taste of 75th made by a group of youth who participated in The Chicago Housing Authority + DePaul Youth Partnership Program.[…]

The 58th Chicago International Film Festival, North America’s longest-running competitive film festival, today announced the winners of its 2022 edition in categories including International Feature Film Competition, New Directors Competition, International Documentary Competition, OutLook Competition, and Short Film Competitions, as well as the Chicago Award for an outstanding program in the Festival’s City & State program, and the Roger Ebert Award, awarded to a film competing in the New Directors Competition in recognition of a filmmaker with a fresh and uncompromising vision.[…]

Winner of The Pitch Announced: James Choi’s All Things Considered

The 58th Chicago International Film Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago, announced the winner of The Pitch at the 8th edition of
Industry Days: All Things Considered, written and directed by James Choi. The film follows a young Korean-American man whose spirited mother is determined to reconnect with her son and help him with his depression through a “fake funeral” ritual that promises to deliver people from their despair.

All Things Considered will receive an awards package of in-kind goods and services worth tens of thousands of dollars.[…]
