The French Dispatch to Open the 57th Chicago International Film Festival

The Chicago International Film Festival today announced the Opening Night film, its Opening Night at the Drive-In presentation, and other highlights of the 57th edition, running October 13 – 24, 2021. This year, the Festival expands to venues across Chicago, including AMC River East 21; the Music Box Theatre; and the Gene Siskel Film Center; and presents exclusive drive-in screenings at ChiTown Movies in Pilsen; with special neighborhood pop-up screening events to be announced in the coming weeks. Virtual screenings, presented via the Festival’s streaming platform, are accessible across Illinois as well as to viewers in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin.[…]

CineYouth Festival is Streaming May 6-13!

This week the Chicago International Film Festival’s CineYouth Festival presents its most expansive lineup yet with 102 extraordinary short films from around the world streaming virtually through May 13!

With the selection spread across 14 short film programs, all are free to stream and available globally to all audiences. This year’s selection presents a range of genres and themes from family-friendly animation to new work from rising Chicago-based filmmakers to a selection of films responding to the pandemic as experienced around the world.[…]
