Calling all physical media lovers and film collectors: We’re hosting our first-ever Physical Media Fair at the 62nd Chicago International Film Festival!
Join us during the Opening Weekend of the Festival for a free two-day celebration of physical media, with opportunities for film-lovers to connect, purchase, and swap physical media and film merch, hear from filmmakers and industry leaders, win prizes, discuss the power of movies and media, and more.

Doors open at 12:30pm for ticket holders only.
Join us for a special live recording of Kino Lorber’s podcast Shelf Space with director Joe Swanberg. This is a free ticketed event. There may be a Standby line if at capacity—stay tuned to the Festival’s social media channels.

3:00 – 4:00pm Let’s Get Physical: The State of Film Collecting
In this panel discussion, Festival programmer Nicola McCafferty talks with director Kevin Shaw (One Golden Summer) and librarian & archivist Natalie Djordjevic about the state of film collecting, including the growing interest in physical media and what it means for the industry, their curation process, and their favorite (and strangest) films in their collection. Get ready to geek out about all things physical media with three avid collectors!

5:00 – 8:00pm Physical Media Swap
Presented in partnership with Revolution Brewing, hosted by the Cinema/Chicago’s Associate Board
Bring a max of 10 physical media products – DVDs, Blu-rays, VHS, movie soundtracks on vinyl, etc. – and swap away! Note: depending on turnout, we may host multiple rounds of the swap – making sure as many people as possible get a chance to swap while not overloading the venue.

Overall the Physical Media Fair is free and open to the public, no tickets required! The only free ticketed event will be the Shelf Space recording with Joe Swanberg to determine space.
We’re hosting a Physical Media Exchange on Saturday, October 17, where you can swap items with fellow film-lovers. Our lineup of vendors for the Physical Media Pop-Up Shop on Sunday, October 18, is set and we do not have room for additional vendors.
We ask that you bring no more than 10 films / pieces of physical media to exchange.
We will do our best to accommodate all attendees, but both days will be first come first served. We encourage you to arrive early
