ICE OUT Shorts
Two powerful short documentaries chronicle the brutal tactics used by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement forces in Chicago and Minneapolis, and the bravery and resourcefulness of the local communities fighting against them. In Sawyer Avenue, Sunday Afternoon, Oscar-nominated director Bill Morrison reconstructs, through cellphone and body-cam footage, a shocking confrontation on Chicago’s Northwest side on October 12, 2025, after federal agents detained a young Latino man.
A Month in Minnesota, from award-winning director Annie Sundberg (The Trials of Darryl Hunt, The Devil Rides on Horseback), goes beyond the headlines of the ICE raids in Minneapolis. It provides a more intimate view of what transpired on the ground through interviews with political officials—including Mayor Jacob Frey and Governor Tim Walz—activists, and ordinary citizens who were trying to keep their neighbors and neighborhoods safe. The films stand as a potent and all-too-current testament to the importance of community and ingenuity in the face of authoritarianism.
