French Legion of Honour Award to be Presented to Michael Kutza

CHICAGO, IL (June 3, 2015) – The President of the French Republic has named Michael Kutza a Knight of the Legion of Honour.

This distinction acknowledges his outstanding professional achievements, “as an internationally recognized graphic designer, filmmaker and the Founder of the Chicago International Film Festival,” said Vincent Floreani, Consul General of France in Chicago.

Mr. Kutza is the recipient of many international awards, including in 1984 the Chevalier de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from French Minister of Culture Jack Lang.[…]

CineYouth Festival Awards Top Films, Celebrates Student Filmmaking

CHICAGO, May 14, 2015 – The 11th annual CineYouth Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago and the Chicago International Film Festival was held May 7-9, 2015, and concluded with an awards ceremony that honored the best films made by student filmmakers 21 years old and younger. The CineYouth Festival is a vital part of the Chicago International Film Festival’s year-round Education Program.

CineYouth, held at Presenting Partner Columbia College Chicago, screened 90 short films made by student filmmakers from around the world, including an hour of films made by female filmmakers and an hour dedicated to films made in Chicago and Illinois.[…]

CHICAGO, May 4, 2015 – The CineYouth Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago and the 51st Chicago International Film Festival, celebrates its 11th year May 7-9, 2015. The three-day festival showcases n short films made by talented young filmmakers, age 21 and younger. This year’s program includes films from around the country as well as Canada, Singapore, Iran, India and the UK. The festival also presents a hands-on Film Challenge, welcoming forty participants age 12-21 who will work in teams to make short films in less than seven hours.[…]

CHICAGO, April 27, 2015  – The 11th annual CineYouth Festival, presented by Cinema/Chicago and the 51st Chicago International Film Festival, released the full schedule of student made short films that will screen during the Festival, May 7-9, 2015. The three-day festival showcases films by talented young filmmakers, age 21 and younger from the United States and abroad. This year’s program includes 90 films from over ten countries including the United States, Argentina, Canada, Singapore and Iran. Additionally, a hands-on film challenge is taking place, welcoming 30 participants age 12-21 to work in teams to make short films in less than seven hours.[…]
