Synopsis

In this intimate drama, Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) gives a piercing performance as a strong young soldier struggling to adapt to her life in New Orleans after experiencing a head injury in Afghanistan. When she meets James (Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry), a local mechanic with a difficult past of his own, she forges a bond that both helps and complicates her own road to recovery. A subtle and moving character study that is brought to extraordinary life by the actors, along with the vitality and particularity of the colors and culture of New Orleans, award-winning theater director Lila Neugebauer’s feature debut is a tender and subtle portrait of friendship, trust, trauma, and healing.
