Butcher’s Crossing
Synopsis
Looking for adventure in the wild west, Harvard-educated blue-blood Will Andrews (Fred Hechinger) arrives wide-eyed in the hardscrabble Kansas town of Butcher’s Crossing. Soon after, he meets up with an impassioned buffalo hunter (the sensationally intense Nicolas Cage), who offers him the chance of a lifetime—to join an epic expedition for the biggest hunt of all time. But as they venture into the sweeping unknown of the American Rockies, their journey begins to unravel in a testosterone-fueled downward spiral of ego, obsession, and greed. In this compelling neo-Western, Chicago native and Festival alumnus Gabe Polsky (Red Army, In Search of Greatness) takes his brilliant cast of characters on a savage odyssey that evokes The Treasure of Sierra Madre by way of Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness.
