Synopsis

In his latest masterwork, the preeminent French filmmaker observes a little-seen corner of his country’s legal system, tracking a series of psychiatric patients who meet with a judge after 12 days to determine if they are eligible for release. Granted unprecedented access, Depardon (Chicago IFF award winner for The 10th District Court) captures a series of captivating and heartbreaking hearings that lay bare the complexities of the human mind. With a majestic score by Alexandre Desplat.
