Join Cinema Chicago’s Associate Board in a Virtual Movie Club on August 19 at 6pm CT for Why the Cage Bird Sings: A Discussion on Nicolas Cage’s Illustrious Career with conversation including the new release Pig (in theaters now and on VOD), plus two Nicholas Cage classics Adaptation (streaming on Hulu) and Con Air (available to rent).

Did you know Nicolas Cage has had 2 Oscar nominations for Best Actor *and* 5 Golden Raspberry nominations for Worst Actor? How can this be, you ask? Join the Cinema/Chicago Associate Board as we discuss elements of Nicolas Cage’s fascinating and illustrious 40-year career that has gone from critical acclaim to multiple direct-to-video productions. Are we seeing an upswing and comeback to critical acclaim with his most recent film Pig? Bring your thoughts and opinions!

The discussion should last about 60 minutes and will take place over Zoom. Our virtual movie club meetings feature discussion leaders to guide the conversation and allow participants to informally discuss themes and ideas surrounding the film among themselves and with the discussion leader. Be sure to come having watched Pig along with the other films if possible!
