Community Cinema Short Films: Team Dream and Matriarch

TEAM DREAM

Director: Luchina Fisher
Run time: 17 mins

Team Dream, the first documentary short from the 2022 Queen Collective program, directed and produced by Luchina Fisher, an award-winning director, writer and producer whose work is at the intersection of race, gender and identity. Fisher’s film follows Ann and Madeline, who are 82 and 77 years old respectively, revealing that nothing — not age, not race, and certainly not Chicago’s notorious weather — will stop them from training for the National Senior Games, where they will likely be the only Black women competing in the sim events in their age group. Subjects Derrick Q Milligan and Madeline Murphy Rabb scheduled to attend.

Winner of the Audience Award for Best Short at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (2022).

MATRIARCH

Director: Donald Conley
Run time: 29 mins

Legacy, life, and elderly motherhood is celebrated from the perspective of the filmmaker’s grandmothers. Director Donald Conley scheduled to attend.

Winner of the Chicago Award Special Mention at the 58th Chicago International Film Festival (2022).
