Press Credentials

Thank you for your interest in covering the 50th Chicago International Film Festival, held
October 9 – 23, 2014.

Press Credential Applications

Any person or media outlet wishing to cover the 50th Chicago International Film Festival must apply for press credentials by filling out the application below. Even if you were credentialed in the past, we request that you provide us an updated application so that we have your most current information on file.

Press Credential Policy

Press credentials are granted to actively covering media with an established history of thoughtful coverage of film, particularly independent, international or niche-market films. Anyone requesting red carpet access should have a track record of covering high profile events in Chicago. Credentialed journalists may:

  • access the Festival’s press suite to download press materials;
  • view screener copies of films subject to availability;
  • attend P & I screenings to preview Festival films;
  • write reviews of Festival films;
  • interview and photograph filmmakers and talent in attendance at the Festival, pending availability and approval;
  • utilize the Press Suite, 30 E. Adams, 9th Floor, pending availability.

Please note: the mission of the Chicago International Film Festival has always been to provide as many seats as possible to the general public. With this goal in mind, press are encouraged to attend P&I screenings and to view Festival films in advance at our Press Suite, as we strongly urge journalists to see as many films as possible before the Festival begins. Press credentials will not necessarily provide admission to public screenings during the Festival.

Photographers seeking red carpet access must also be on assignment from an established media outlet or wire service. Spec, portfolio photography and personal website or personal social media photography are not considered valid assignments.

Red carpet/photo opportunity access is not approved “across the board.” Media requesting access to red carpets or photo opportunities should contact the Festival Publicity Coordinator to request access to any specific event they wish to cover.

The Chicago International Film Festival reserves the right to approve, deny or revoke accreditation. The decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Media accreditation closes Wednesday, Sept. 24. Applications received after Sept. 24 will not be considered.
