For the first time ever, the Chicago International Film Festival is giving Gala patrons and the public a chance to pre-bid on our exciting lineup of silent auction items available at our 2010 Summer Gala honoring Ron Howard. See below for a preview of more than 70 items that span the best Chicago has to offer-from our favorite restaurants and sports teams to wonderful theater and museum packages-plus treasures from the Chicago International Film Festival archives and so much more...

To pre-bid, send an e-mail to auction@chicagofilmfestival.com with the number and name of the item as well as your name, bid, mailing address, phone number and bidding ID. Your bidding ID will be placed next to the current bid of the auction item if you are the highest bidder. 101. Hoop Dreams.
Team USA triumphed with the gold medal in basketball at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, prompting comparisons to the legendary 1992 “Dream Team” and earning them the nickname “The Redeem Team.” This framed Olympic jersey is signed by 12 team members, including superstars Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Jason Kidd, Dwight Howard, and Coach “K.”

102. Hot Ice.
One of the most storied events in all of ice hockey (inspiring three films, including Miracle with Kurt Russell), the 1980 USA Olympic gold medal win over the Soviet Union was known as the “Miracle on Ice.” That legendary team signed this 16” X 20” framed photo.

103. Let’s Go Cubbies.
Led by All Star Ron Santo and future Hall of Famers Ernie Banks, Ferguson Jenkins, and Billy Williams, the Cubs had a roller-coaster year in 1969, when they were dubbed “the most celebrated second-place team in the history of baseball.” This framed 30” X 40” photo is autographed by Chicago’s beloved baseball team from that infamous year.

504. Citizen Welles.
Legend has it the Chicago International Film Festival had its impetus in the early ’60s after Orson Welles promised founder Michael Kutza he would attend if Kutza started a film festival. Silent Auction Pre-Bid Rules
The Silent Auction online pre-bid begins at Wednesday, June 9 at 10:00am and ends at Friday, June 11 at 3:00pm.
Bids will be updated each morning by 10:00am and accepted from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Bids sent in after 6pm will be updated the following morning.
No online bids will be accepted after the pre-bid auction closes at Friday, June 11 at 3pm.
Opening bids and minimum raises must be followed according to the amounts listed on the website. If the opening bid and/or minimum raise are not followed, the bid will be disqualified.
Each bid should be emailed to auction@chicagofilmfestval.com and should include the bidder’s first and last name, phone number, and mailing address. The e-mail should also include a bidding-name which will appear on the website next to the auction item if you are the highest bidder.
Bid as often as you wish. If you are outbid and wish to enter a higher bid, you must send another email with all of the information as listed above.
Winning Bids/Purchase
A valid credit card must be on file prior to the silent auction on Saturday evening. At the conclusion of the pre-bid on Friday, June 11, a Cinema/Chicago representative will call top bidders.
Bidding will be continued in person at the Summer Gala honoring Ron Howard on June 12, 2010. If you wish to attend the event to secure your bid throughout the evetn’s auction, you may call the Cinema/Chicago offices at 312.683.0121 or visit the website at http://www.chicagofilmfestival.com/catalog/?category=13&product=80. If you do not attend but are not outbid at the event, you will win the item.
If you are the winning bidder you will be contacted via e-mail. All items must be paid in full with American Express, MasterCard, or Visa. Payment must be received prior to shipping the item.
Any amount paid in excess of the value is tax-deductible to the extent provided by the law.
Pick-up/Delivery
Any cost associated with delivering an item to the winning bidder is the sole responsibility of the bidder. Items may also be picked up at the Cinema/Chicago office at:

Limitations
Some items are subject to limitations as listed in the program book descriptions. All restrictions and specific arrangements MUST be honored so PLEASE be sure to check dates, times, etc. The silent auction donors determine values. The Chicago International Film Festival and Cinema/Chicago assume no responsibility for the value of any items or the provision of any goods or services by the silent auction donors. All sales are final. No exchange or refund.
