Biography

Lechuga trained as a film director in the Instituto Superior de Arte (Higher Art Institute) in Cuba and continued studying in the International Film and TV School specializing in scriptwriting. His work as a director includes several short films like LOS BANISTAS (The Swimmers) and CUCA Y EL POLLO (Cuca and the Chicken), which received national and international awards. He wrote the scripts of four feature films: CLUB HABANA (Havana Club), which won the Unpublished Script Award at the International Non-Budget Film Festival; EL EDEN PERDIDO (The Lost Eden), winner of the Audience Award at the First Festival of Films for Television in Malaga, Spain; PENUMBRAS (Penumbras) and EN FIN, EL MAL. MELAZA is his first feature film as a director
