Q: What film inspired you to start a career as a filmmaker?
A: E.T. the Extra-Terrial (Steven Spielberg, 1982).
Q: Did you make Wolfschildren with a specific audience in mind?
A: I didn't think about my audience’s age or social background. I wanted to tell this story for all the people who had never heard of the Wolfskinder and were interested in historical incidents like this one. The story of the Wolfskinder is exemplary for all refugee kids around the world, who suffer from a similar fate.
Q: What memorable events happened during the production of Wolfschildren?
A: There were many memorable moments and all of them were unique. Because I shot my movie in the wild and my actors were mainly kids, I often had only one take. This made me nervous on set, but in the end, while cutting the movie I learned very quickly: the first take is often the best!
Q: If you could work with any actor, living or dead, who would it be?
A: Michael Fassbender.
